In the
Petroleum Sector Rehabilitation Project initiated and financed
by the World Bank, DIAK was awarded engineering projects valued
at $1.3m to assist the distribution of petrol and oil products
from Dar es Salaam to various inland destinations. The majority
of the work involved the design and supply of refinery and
oil depot distribution equipment. The equipment was installed
on the premises of several major oil companies who participated
with the World Bank in the project.
A few
examples of the equipment are:
- Two
oil storage tanks of 6000 M3 complete with all ancillaries,
plus eight tanks of 500 M3 and one of 1000 M3, all shipped
together in a 24 container lot for assembly on site in 4
locations across east and central Africa (for a major U.K.
international oil company)
- 12
sets of refinery distribution centrifugal pumps, each of
150 c.m.p.h capacity, all complete with flameproof vapourproof
motors assembled and tested by DIAK
- 195
tonnes of seamless steel pipes made for DIAK in Romania
- 19
tonnes of pipework fittings, elbows, flanges etc., to fit
the above
- A
complete white oil submarine pipeline with all fittings
and rubber submarine hoses, to provide ship refuelling facilities
in a new port complex, made for DIAK in Texas and Europe,
and delivered by us into the African port
- 52
tonnes of pipeline and fittings for a new refinery distribution
complex
A new
independent oil company was established to built a port distribution
depot in Africa and retained an ex-BP consultant engineer
who from personal experience of previous DIAK oil projects,
recommended DIAK to supply the pumping systems. A set of white
oil suction pumps were assembled with flameproof and vapourproof
motors and supplied together with sets of petro-chem quality
vents and valves. DIAK work often arrives from personal introduction
and reference, and over 25 years DIAK has assisted many consultants
with both technical support and project implementation.
