Cotton into Textiles

An African government established an organisation to assist small scale local industries to both to develop and also to form relationships with overseas experts in various fields. One such industry was the production of textiles to utilise local cotton production.

DIAK was appointed to assist in the research and supply of dyes, binders and pigments suitable for local usage. DIAK retained a consultant in Europe to study samples of the local production and specify the grades of dyestuffs to supply. DIAK formed a consortia of 5 international chemical producers, and created a local stock of the range of dyestuffs needed for local production together with detailed guides on how to manage the dyeing process.

Rubber into Tyres

In a project funded by a Norwegian Government aid grant, DIAK mapped a set of very large scale crown wheel and pinion gears dating from the 1950s whose original manufacturer had closed. These were working in an African tyre factory. The patterns were reproduced in the U.K. and new gear sets machined to match the original patterns. This established security for the factory in being able to continue usage of the tyre making machinery, which despite it's age, continued to give good service.

Wood Waste to Hardboard

DIAK assisted an African factory effect a refurbishment of an old production line taking in wood waste from local forestry operations, and producing hardboard sheets for the local building market. This involved the customer manufacture of stainless steel woven mats for baking the board, machine knives for shredding and cutting, electrical control gear for the process control centre and many other aspects of the factory.

Wood Pulp to Paper
Raw Hides to Cured Leather
Tobacco to Cigarettes

DIAK has ongoing relationships with factories in these businesses, providing a complete engineering support and overhaul service on their process equipment and power systems.
